Weight of an Alaskan Malamute is very important in all stages of life. In young puppy hood, it is very important to NOT over feed your puppy. Malamutes that grow too fast too soon are at a much higher risk for health problems and hip dysplasia !
Your malamute pup will not be fully grown until about 3 years of ago. So during these three years, not just young puppy, it is vital to keep you malamute lean and trim. Not skinny but not over weight at all.
When you malamute reaches adult hood, it is still very important to keep your malamute lean and fit. By doing this, your malamute will be a lot happier and healthier and live a lot longer.
What about the "giant" malamutes ?The larger the breed, the more this is important !!
What about people who advertise their puppies are huge?
Either the people are exaggerating the size of their dogs - most of the time
or
They over feed their dogs. They are either unaware of the health risks involved or they just don't care.
The one most important thing I can express about malamute health
Proper exercise and quality food is VITAL !
